Knitting machine number
The machine size is expressed by the number of needles within a length of 25.4 mm (1 inch) on the needle bed.
The number of the knitting machine indicates the density of needles on the needle bed. The higher the machine gauge, the more needles in a certain length of the needle bed, that is, the smaller the needle pitch; otherwise, the fewer the needles, that is, the greater the needle pitch. When the machine number is indicated separately, it should be composed of the symbol E and the corresponding number. For example, the number 18 should be written as E18, which means that there are 18 knitting needles within 25.4mm of the needle bed.
